Echo's Story

A local rescue group brought Echo, a young puppy, to us when she started throwing up and not acting well. The veterinarian examined Echo and had serious concerns - Echo was very sick and dehydrated, she needed IV fluids and strong medications to help her get better. To make matters worse Echo had not received any vaccinations before ending up at the rescue - it was possible that Echo might have a deadly virus.

Echo was cared for here at the hospital for several days. As time went on, it became very apparent that Echo was demonstrating all of the signs of Distemper - a potentially deadly virus that sometimes leaves puppies with permanent neurologic problems. Still, Echo was very stubborn, and determined to live. We all agreed that as long as Echo was holding on, we would continue to help her get through this terrible disease.

Slowly, Echo recovered from her fight with the Distemper Virus. Her appetite got better and better, and finally the vet determined she was healthy enough to find a new home. The rescue group found a perfect home for Echo, and to this day Echo is doing well. Echo can play and have fun just like every other puppy, the only evidence that she has survived a deadly virus is a permanent head tilt - she was a very lucky puppy.

Without the help of kind donations from perfect strangers, Echo may not have been able to recieve the care she needed. Thank you to all contributors to the Tails of Woe Fund.
