Feline Preventative Care
The cornerstone to providing excellent care for your cat is having regular exams done, at least once annually. During exams, our primary goal is to learn as much about your cat’s health as possible while minimizing your pet’s stress levels. Our exams are always comprehensive – this includes cleaning the ears and trimming nails as well as a thorough physical exam.
Vaccinations are necessary to prevent deadly diseases, however, we believe that our clients should not have to overpay for, or over vaccinate their pets. Because of this, our FVRCP and Rabies are always good for 3 years after the first initial year of vaccines. There are a large number of feline vaccines available on the market that have very limited effectiveness or are not effective at all. Cats are also very sensitive to vaccinations and other medications, and because of this we only recommend giving the FVRCP, Feline Leukemia, and Rabies vaccines to your cat.
This vaccine protects your cat or kitten against several upper respiratory viruses that are frequently fatal. All cats should be vaccinated with FVRCP to prevent the spread of disease. After the first year kitten vaccines, this vaccine is good for 3 years.
Rabies is a contagious and fatal disease spread by the bite of an infected animal. A vast majority of human exposures to this disease occur through our pet cats. As a result, the Federal government requires all cats be vaccinated against rabies. After the initial first year vaccines, this vaccine is good for 3 years.
Feline Leukemia (FeLV): $23.88
Feline Leukemia is a disease that effects the immune system and usually results in death. Unfortunately, this vaccine is only fifty percent effective, however we strongly recommend vaccinating all cats against this disease. Our vaccine for Feline Leukemia is administered with a VetJet, a needle-less vaccine – this helps reduce vaccine related problems in cats.
